THE STORY
The low-fare airline that took on Atlanta
AirTran went after Delta in its own hub, flew the Boeing 717 as launch customer when nobody else would touch it, and put a business class on a low-fare ticket. Southwest bought it and flew the last AirTran service out of Atlanta on 28 December 2014. Our AirTran designs draw on the blue-and-white years — the marks crews wore from Hartsfield to the final gate.
