Our story
Remember when flying felt like something?
Before mega-mergers and basic economy, an airline was a personality — the colors on the tail, the hot meal on real silverware, the wings your grandfather wore for thirty years.
Some marks do more than identify an airline. They bring back a route, a crew room, a first flight, or the people who made the work worth remembering. We put those familiar identities on useful, everyday pieces so the good old days can travel with you again.
What we make
Apparel built around the visual history of commercial aviation — the carriers that defined an era and then, one by one, stopped flying. Pan Am. TWA. Eastern. Braniff. Continental. Northwest. Names that meant something to the people who flew them and the people who worked for them.
Each design is our own work, drawn from the period it belongs to. We are not affiliated with any airline or its successors, and we do not pretend to be. We are enthusiasts making things for other enthusiasts.
How it is made
Every item is printed to order by our production partner in the United States. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting for a buyer.
That is a deliberate choice. Printing to order means we can offer a deep catalogue of carriers — including the ones nobody else bothers with — without gambling on which ones will sell. It means no unsold stock going to landfill. And it means that when you order a shirt for a carrier your father flew for, it gets made for you rather than pulled from a bin.
The trade-off is honest: it takes us 1 to 3 business days to print and dispatch an order rather than shipping the same afternoon. We think the catalogue is worth the wait.
How we do business
We ship to the United States and 27 other countries, with tracking on every order.
Returns are free for 30 days. If something is not right — wrong size, wrong call, or just not what you hoped — email us and we send you a prepaid label and a full refund. We do not ask you to justify it, and we do not charge you to send it back. A shirt you do not wear is no good to either of us.
Missing a carrier?
Our catalogue keeps growing, and several collections started as a customer asking for an airline we did not stock. If yours is missing, tell us at support@defunctairlines.com. We read every one.
