The local carrier that became a major
Allegheny worked the short, unglamorous runs between Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and every small town in between, built the first real commuter network in America, and grew big enough to need a bigger name. In 1979 it became USAir. Our Allegheny designs draw on the local-service years — the marks crews wore on Convairs, One-Elevens and DC-9s before the name changed.
