The Deep South's local airline
Southern flew the small cities of the Deep South out of Atlanta — Martins, then Convairs, then DC-9s into fields the majors never bothered with. On 1 July 1979 it merged with North Central to form Republic. Our Southern designs draw on the DC-9 years — the marks crews wore across the South.
